“The works are a visual representation of healing with every stage visible; it’s hard to say where it begins and ends, if it ends at all.”– Yung-wu
Plum Rains, by Yung-wu. 2025, 30 x 20 x 1.5” Acrylic, wax, and ceramic stucco on canvas
The works of Third Spaces are the result of continued self-discovery and personal resilience as the artist uses her practice to process and untangle challenges in the past and present. With as many as 10 layers of expressive mixed media marks, Yung-wu finishes her works with thin layers that intuitively “hide” certain areas, while the energy below remains energetically present. There's something stirring about her process of layering, the turbulence peaking through layers of restraint. The overall effect is a living calm, or a stirring rest. Something caught in tension, something striving for peace.
Yung-wu’s work is a growing force in the art scene of New York and beyond. We are continuously pleased to present Yung-wu in various solo and group exhibitions across Brooklyn and Manhattan, including at the Selena Hotel, at four editions of the Affordable Art Fair NYC, at our winter exhibitions in Midtown by Rockefeller Center, and in regular group shows at Eleventh Hour Art in Brooklyn. Yung-wu’s work is a firm favorite of designers, who consistently place her work in homes and commercial locations across the country, including The Surrey, a Corinthian Hotel, on the Upper East Side. Her work is a feature of private collections in New York City, Miami, Portland, Paris, Seoul, and beyond.
